So I finally decided to make the leap. I am going to SXSW 2010. Awesome! And just what do I hope to accomplish there? Some things pretty clearly must happen – like attending films and live shows. I might just be convinced to take part in some tech-aoke as the kids are calling it these days.

Back when I lived in Austin, the whole notion of SXSW was so completely Austin to me that I never got excited about it. Now it is this huge thing! The interactive sessions haven’t been what I would like them to be for the past few years. Maker faire has done a better job of speaking to my inner geek. I am not saying this because of the geodesic domes specifically, but they are cool…

It takes more than a dome to make an event, it was the atmosphere of fellow-geekdom that made everything feel homie. This is by far the most hyped SXSW I have seen yet so I am truly excited for the talent and innovation this attention should bring. Austin is known for innovation and this year should be especially magical.
