This post was inspired by pure anger. I can admit it! As a web marketing consultant I spend a lot of time following the latest social media trends, because it’s my business to do so. However, Facebook tricks even ME into posting things publicly and it’s a big issue.

Recently I went to upload an inspiring quote from JFK:

Imagine my horror when I realized the NEW default was “public” rather than to my friends. A quick study of my profile revealed that about 5 of my recent posts were public by default. Wow. I never got notification of the change or noticed it. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Anything you post on Facebook you should assume could become public, anything!

This is not my first post on Facebook privacy and I’m sure it won’t be the last. More and more people are claiming that they’re “done” with Facebook. I keep hearing that, but what are the alternative sites? Yeah… that’s what I thought!
