A Preview of SXSW 2024
An Austin staple for decades, the size and scope of South by Southwest has only grown in recent years. Today, the conference and festival is a highlight of the March calendar not only for locals, but for people from all around the world. The 2024 version of SXSW is fast approaching and it promises to be another memorable event. Let’s take a look at some of the many happenings that are on the agenda.
Big Names, As Usual
A conference as large as SXSW is sure to draw more than its fair share of big names to give keynote sessions. In 2024, there will be an excellent variety of keynotes for attendees to enjoy, including those listed below –
- A panel of influential women in media will deliver a keynote, including Katie Couric, Errin Haines, Brooke Shields, Nancy Wang Yuen, and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex
- Jack Conte, CEO of Patreon, will speak on the future of how creatives will be able to connect with audiences
- Lisa Su, CEO & Chair of AMD will join host Ryan Patel to discuss the future of AI, how millions of people use AMD-powered services everyday, and AMD’s vision to solve the world’s toughest challenges with leading-edge high-performance and adaptive computing
The rise in popularity in women’s sports will be addressed by three notable women in the space – Sue Bird, Jessica Robertson, and Justine Brown.
Having Some Fun
There is plenty of serious business taking place at SXSW, but that doesn’t mean it all has to be about learning and advancing in a particular space. Sometimes, the event is about nothing more than having a good time – as evidenced by The LaCroix House experience. This branded destination offers tastes of the most popular LaCroix flavors, along with some new offerings, and plenty of games and photo-ops for attendees.
A Focus on Tech
There are countless different tracks that can be followed throughout SXSW, which is why it appeals to such a wide audience – there really is something for everyone. For those who are particularly tuned into technology, 2024 is not going to disappoint at the conference. There are multiple tracks available during the nine days that tie into technology, such as –
- Artificial Intelligence, March 11 – 15. Of course, this is the topic that has been at the top of everyone’s mind in recent months, so it’s only natural that there will be plenty of content on this hot subject matter.
- Game Industry, March 10 – 12. The gaming industry remains a powerful force in the tech world, and much of the discussion will center around how traditional media is moving closer and closer to the gaming platforms to make sure they maintain an audience.
- Music & Tech, March 11 – 15. The connection between music and technology is too strong to dispute in the modern landscape, so this track will cover both the opportunities and the problems that are presented as a result.
Abundant Interactive Opportunities
One of the big changes for 2024 is the addition of an Interactive Badge to the options that attendees have when purchasing their passes. Going with the Interactive option will open up attendance at all of the various conference events, such as sessions with experienced mentors and workshops. For those who want to get deep into the SXSW experience and pull out as much value as possible from the trip, the Interactive Badge is sure to be popular.
